Al Parco Natura Viva di Bussolengo (Verona), il più importante centro italiano di tutela delle specie minacciate, in meno di due settimane sono nati tre cuccioli di due specie diverse, un ippopotamo e due fratellini di panda rosso, il panda minore che rischia l'estinzione.

L'ippopotamo (Hippopotamus amphibius), dal greco ἱπποπόταμος ("cavallo di fiume") è un grosso mammifero erbivoro africano. È una delle due specie ancora viventi della famiglia Hippopotamidae (altre due si sono estinte in tempi recenti). L'ippopotamo ha una lunghezza testa-corpo da 3,30 a 3,75 m ed è alto al garrese 1,50 m; il peso va da 1,4 a 3 t (i maschi sono nettamente più grossi delle femmine).

Il panda rosso (Ailurus fulgens) o panda minore è un mammifero dell'ordine dei carnivori, unico rappresentante vivente della famiglia Ailuridae. In cinese è anche conosciuto col nome di hǔo hú (火狐), che letteralmente significa volpe di fuoco. È diffuso dal Nepal orientale attraverso il Bhutan e la Birmania fino alla Cina centromeridionale.Vive nelle foreste temperate. La Zoological Society of London, in base a criteri di unicità evolutiva e di esiguità della popolazione, considera Ailurus fulgens una delle 100 specie di mammiferi a maggiore rischio di estinzione.



In the Parco Natura Viva of Bussolengo  (Verona), the most important center Italian protection of endangered species, in less than two weeks to three cubs were born two different species, a hippopotamus and two brothers red panda, the lesser panda which threatens the 'extinction.

The hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), from the greek ἱπποπόταμος ("river horse") is a large herbivorous mammal of Africa. It is one of two species still living family Hippopotamidae (other two are extinct in recent times). The hippopotamus has a head-body length from 3.30 to 3.75 m and 1.50 m high at the withers, weighs between 1.4 to 3 tonnes (males are much larger than females).

The red panda (Ailurus fulgens) or lesser panda is a carnivorous mammal of the order, the only living representative of the family Ailuridae. In Chinese is also known as hǔo hu (火狐), which literally means fox fire. It is found from eastern Nepal through Bhutan and Burma to China centromeridionale.Vive in temperate forests. The Zoological Society of London, on the basis of evolutionary uniqueness and smallness of the population considers Ailurus fulgens one of 100 species of mammals most at risk of extinction.
