La storia, come già anticipato nell’articolo sulle novità del 2010 della sergio Boneli Editore , è questa: California, 1977. Un anno particolare, il ’77. Siamo quasi alla fine del mondo così come lo intendevamo, prima che arrivassero i computer, i telefoni cellulari, internet, prima della caduta del Muro di Berlino e dell'era della globalizzazione. C’erano altre cose, a quei tempi. C’era della buona musica, c’erano bei film, c’erano macchine rombanti e veloci con cui correre oltre il confine messicano. I fuorilegge avevano vita facile, gli sbirri non disponevano ancora di tutte le diavolerie tecnologiche che hanno oggi. Si faceva la guerra ad armi pari, a volte perfino rispettandosi. E sperando che le minigonne non passassero mai di moda. Il 16 agosto del 1977, a Memphis, presso la sua dimora di Graceland, muore Elvis Presley. Quella stessa notte, una grossa Dodge nera, crivellata di proiettili, procede lungo una strada deserta. Al volante dell'auto c’è un uomo alto e robusto, con la faccia dura. Ha tre pallottole in corpo e si sta dissanguando lentamente. Così inizia l’ultima, lunga avventura di Raymond Cassidy, fuorilegge, ladro e rapinatore. Un uomo che stanotte scoprirà di avere solo un anno e mezzo di vita. Diciotto mesi per sistemare le cose, per fare i conti con il passato, prima di andare incontro al proprio destino. Non saranno mesi tranquilli, no di certo. Ci saranno scontri, e fughe, e vendette, ad aspettare Cassidy. Donne bellissime, spietati criminali, tenaci tutori della legge arriveranno a complicargli la vita. E un vecchio musicista cieco, il Bluesman, scandirà per lui il trascorrere di quegli ultimi giorni. The story, as already anticipated in the news in 2010 by Sergio Boneli publisher, is this: California, 1977. A particular year, '77. We're almost at the end of the world as we understand it, before the arrival of computers, mobile phones, internet, before the fall of the Berlin Wall and the era of globalization. There were other things in those days. There was good music, there were good movies, there were rumbling and fast machines which run across the Mexican border. The outlaws had an easy life, the cops still did not have all the newfangled technology they have today. It was the war in equal measure, sometimes even addressed each other. And hoping that skirts never go out of fashion. On August 16, 1977 in Memphis, at his home Graceland, Elvis Presley dies. That same night, a big black Dodge, riddled with bullets along a deserted road. At the wheel of the car is tall and strong, his face hard. He has three bullets in his body and is slowly bleeding. So begins the last long adventure Raymond Cassidy, outlaw, thief and robber. A man who tonight will discover that you have only one and a half of life. Eighteen months to fix things, to come to terms with the past, before going to meet his fate. Months will not be easy, certainly not. There will be fights, and escapes, and revenge, waiting Cassidy. Beautiful women, ruthless criminals, tough law enforcement officials arrive to complicate our lives. And an old blind musician, bluesman, will scan for him to spend those last days.
