I fan di Dragon Ball non devono lasciarsi ingannare dal titolo: Goku & Co. ritorneranno ma non per mano del maestro Akira Toriyama, bensì grazie a Ooishi Naho, che già aveva collaborato allo speciale di Dragon Ball realizzato in occasione dei quarantanni di Monthly Shonen Jump. Dragon Ball SD, questo il titolo dello spin-off, vedrà come protagonisti Goku, Crilin e gli altri personaggi della saga ma in versione “chibi” ossa “baby” e verrà pubblicata a dicembre sul primo numero di "Super Strong Jump" (Saikyō Jump) , nuova rivista della Jump dedicato al pubblico dei più giovani. Altre quattro versioni “chibi” verranno pubblicate in omaggio alle serie originali: Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden dedicata al personaggio di Rock Lee del manga Naruto di Masashi Kishimoto e disegnato da Kenji Taira; Chopperman di Hirofumi Takei e dedicata a Chopper, l'alce dottore della ciurma di Rufy di One Piece di Eiichiro Oda; Vongola GP (Grand Prix) Kuru! disegnato da Toshinori Takayama e tratto da Tutor Hitman Reborn! di Akira Amano, e Gourmet Gakuen Toriko di Akitsugu Mizumoto e tratto da Toriko di Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro.
