On 24 August, was given one of those news which will hopefully never have to read, especially if you are fans of anime and manga world: in 46 years the acclaimed director Satoshi Kon has died suddenly due to cancer of the pancreas who had been ill for some time. The announcement was the first for Jim Vowles, dell'Otakon executive staff member, the institutional forum of the convention. To confirm then what might seem like a joke in bad taste were Yasuhiro Takeda studio Gainax on Twitter, Masao Maruyama studio MADHOUSE always on Twitter and Kyoko Kon, wife of the director, the official website. Cinematical instead was among the first newspapers to report the news even in the Western world. Born in Hokkaido October 12, 1963, Satoshi Kon has started to make a name in the field of animation as a young man, skirting Katsuhiro Otomo first in Roujin Z (1991), which has handled the set design, and then into Memories (1995 ), which has kept the script of the episode Magnetic Rose. He then debuted on the flight director with the acclaimed film Perfect Blue (1997), with whom he began to attract national and international attention. Here are followed then Millennium Actress (2001), Tokyo Godfathers (2003), the TV series Paranoia Agent (2004) and Paprika (2006). When you die Kon was working on another project for MADHOUSE, entitled Yume Miru Kika (Dream Machine) whose release is scheduled for 2011.
