Il romanzo si fa leggere piacevolmente con la sua scrittura semplice e veloce, senza troppi fronzoli il Marrandino ci fa percorrere,anche se con l’ingenuità dell’esordio o forse il frenarsi consapevole per non perdersi in discorsi lunghi e tediosi, un viaggio attraverso l’esperienza di Davide e dei suoi amici, protagonista di un’avventura quotidiana, con quel sentore di situazioni che possono e accadono a tutti. Varie avventure, o esperienze che porteranno il protagonista a cambiare a maturare ,ad affrontare quelle disavventure che lo porteranno a trovarsi faccia a faccia con l’infame destino di Wile Coyote. Oltre all’esperienza di vita, il protagonista inizia,complice un furtivo incontro con una donna cantante di una rock-band , la sua scoperta musicale. Il romanzo si può dividere in vari capitoli musicali, la prima parte , l’introduzione del protagonista con il ricordo di un’estate che rimarrà per sempre, sempre come far ritornare alla mente quel dolce piano di Trouble dei Coldplay. Di li inizia la storia vera e propria. L’incontro con Laura, che passa le giornate tra università e le prove con il complesso rock, un impatto emotivo nato dall’ascolto della sua voce, che richiama la voce meravigliosamente crudele di P.J. Hrveyche e si fissa nella mente di Davide. La conoscenza va avanti, grazie a Raimondo, figlio dei fiori che vive in una scuola occupata, che diventa pusher di buona musica, Led Zeppelin, U2 e tanta vera musica si incomincia a insinuare nella vita di Davide. Poi arriva il mitico viaggio ad Amsterdam, come fare a non sentire in quei coffe shop, tra fumi e estasi un richiamo al ritmo reggheggiante del mitico Bob Marley e come fare a meno di Roxanne dei The Police , mentre si gira x i quartieri “rossi” alla scoperta di un fantomatico segreto! Poi c’è la parte finale del libro, il ritorno a casa con una scoperta sconcertante, come fare a non sentire il ritmo dei Blur di Song2 in quella corsa in scooter che finirà….chi legge lo saprà! E poi i due rush finali, il primo, ci farà conoscere come è frustrante avere una risposta a una domanda e non avere nessuno che te la ponga, e nello stare faccia afaccia con il destino di Wile Coyote sembra di ascoltare in sottofondo una dolce , bella e malinconica melodia dei The Cure, con la voce di Robert Smith che ci accarezza, e poi il secondo , che altri non è che un nuovo viaggio alla scoperta di una verità nascosta per far pagare un uno conto sospeso, come si fa a non sentire nella mente , durante la partenza di un viaggio Bitter sweet symphony dei The Verve.
